About My Books

Guess what, I  write books too!

Well nothing completed quite yet, but I've working hard on several projects over the last few years. I've been wanting to write a book since I was a kid and I've learned so much already. It's been a ton of work so far and much more to go, but it'll all be worth it to see my vision come alive on the page.

What projects can you look forward to?

While there are many ideas I've got floating around, there are a few that are currently concrete and attainable. Here they are, listed in order of the amount work currently done on them!

Forest of The Fae

Gwen lived a life of isolation and torment at her Father's hands. When given the chance to escape she takes it without a second thought. Taking refuge in her estranged brother's home she finds safety, growing bonds, and secrets. More secrets than she can keep track of, but she too has a secret of her own. The strange, dark being she met in the woods, and can't stop meeting. Secrets and deceit can only end in one way.

John wasn't sure how his life turned out the way it did, but he was not happy with the man he had become or the things he done to survive. He wanted a fresh start, to be the family his sister needed, but change wasn't easy, and the past has a way of haunting you. And hunting you.

Forest of The Fae is an adult fantasy-romance that touches on trauma, recovery, reclamation, self discovery, sexuality, and identity. Featuring autistic and LGBTQ+ own voice representation.

Tales from Hells Bastion

Dusk, The Somber Continent, a land where the soil was barren, and monsters roamed. Mankind learned to call upon the Gods power to survive. Centuries passed; time gave way to technology. Encampments became towns, and some became cities, separated by large stretches of wasteland, and independently governed. Until the rise a new empire and their new God.

Sonny, a jaded Imperial Knight, finds himself disillusioned with the Empire, missing the love of his life, and the new caretaker of his teen brother. He needs to get out, and takes his brother Raine far away to, Hells Bastion. A town on the edge of the known world, a remnant of a forgotten era. This deep in the wasteland's monsters are the least of their worries. More people than just Sonny's love have gone missing, a cult lurks in the shadows, and a revolution brews. Sonny and his stoic new associate must try to unravel the mysteries, meanwhile Raine has gotten himself mixed up with a troubled group of teens with their own mysteries.

Mysteries that might pull the two brothers apart. Can the Old Gods really stay quiet through all this chaos?

Tales from Hells Bastion is a new-adult fantasy/sci-fi adventure that tackles grief, freedom, defiance, and the many forms of love (good and bad). Features LGBTQ+ own voice representation.

The Siren's Guardian

Every generation seven merfolk were born with the power to hear the voice of the sea and held the sacred duty of interpreting the seas will. These beings were called The Sirens, and every Siren was protected by a Guardian. A chosen warrior to act as their sword, their shield, their caretaker.

Dawn was blessed to be raised by a Guardian and a waning Siren and was proud and honored to be chosen as the Guardian of the next Siren, a flighty young mermaid named Gia, beautiful as she was stubborn. Dawn couldn't have asked for a better path in life, but her half aware father keeps warning her that the sea has other plans. When a murder takes place in the Coral Palace, Gia is determined to solve the murder herself and clear the crown prince's name. Dawn has no choice but to follow her lead. Soon the two find the world wasn't as they had known it, and that that had not truly known themselves. More importantly, it seems they are the only ones standing between an all-out war between the Seven Kingdoms, and allies are few and far between.

The Siren's Guardian is a new-adult fantasy adventure that deals in unrequited love, betrayal, destiny, and change. Features LGBTQ+ own voice representation.

How can I support these projects?

The best way to make these stories a reality is donate to my Ko-Fi, but keeping up with the blog, and showing support on social media are great ways to help out. Every bit counts and I want to be able to write as many books as I can. Unfortunately, in today's world that means a lot of work and money.

If you like what you see here and on my blog, you can always make short story requests through my Ko-fi as well!

And if there was one story in particular that stuck out to you, or any blog posts that catch your eye, never be afraid to comment and let me know, it truly means the world to me.

With love,

Kayla (The Mango) Fussell
